Throughout the past decade, indie rock fans, blogs, and musicians have gotten less critical of each other. This has arguably been because the last decade was great for independent music and most bands were undeserving of most criticism that was prevalent in blog comments and message boards. This has led to an overly accepting view on music where criticism is met with disdain.

But criticism is necessary to keep the music scene from going downhill. Backlash keeps undeserved popularity in check and prevents a hundred clones of said undeservedly popular band. Backlash helps ensure that music progresses instead of dwelling on one sub-genre for months (e.g. chillwave).




So I had the unfortunate chance to see this guy live. You know how you see laptop DJ's and it sucks because they're laptop DJ's?

This guy is like that except worse because he sings too, but he can't sing for shit. He was out of key half the time. It was painful to watch. Baths sucks.

DOM - "Living in America"

DOM kicks ass. They're like punkish glo-fi turned up to 11. They have an EP out called Sun Bronzed Greek Gods right now, but I can't wait for them to put together a full album.

Beastie Boys vs. Daft Punk - "Intergalactic Rock"

This is the best mashup I've heard in a long time. I always thought that "Robot Rock" was not one of Daft Punk's best songs, but the mashup makes it 10x better. Download link is in the description of the video on YouTube. Also, Girl Talk sucks.

This guy is the guitarist from The Pipettes. He sort of sounds like Los Campesinos!
